It produces amazingly sharp documents, prints quickly at up to 32 pages per minute, and doesn't need much maintenance. Its ADF-equipped scanner scans fast and supports single-pass duplex scanning, making it a great choice for offices that regularly scan multi-page or double-sided documents. With a yield of around 3000 black and 1400 color prints, you likely won't need to replace the toner cartridges often unless you print a lot. Plus, the toner cartridges are relatively inexpensive. Cheaper variants exist, like the Brother MFC-L8610CDW, which has a smaller display and flatbed scanner butlacks NFC support and duplex scanning.    If you need to print photos, get the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 instead. This all-in-one supertank model produces beautiful pictures and supports up to 13" x 19" paper, making it an excellent option for printing posters. Its page yield is fantastic, so you won't have to spend much on replacement ink. Like the Brother, it has an 8.5" x 14" flatbed scanner to scan Legal-size documents, but there's no automatic feeder, so you'll have to scan each sheet manually. It also has slower printing speeds. Another alternativeis the Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850. It's more of an office printer than a photo printer, meaning you get more features like an ADF with duplex scanning and faster printing speeds, but the print quality isn'tas good, as the pictures look more muted and grainy than ones printed on the ET-8550. Unfortunately, both printers are more expensive than the Brother MFC-L8905CDW.

It's also easier to maintain, as its toner cartridges contain the drum, meaning you won't have to replace the drum separately. The tradeoff for its lower price is its printing speed. It can print up to 22 pages per minute, but you can only get that speed when connected via USB or Ethernet, which is inconvenient if you don't have space near your computer or router to put the printer.    Another option to consider is theBrother MFC-L3780CDW, also an all-in-one color laser printernearly identical to the Canon. It produces high-quality documents, and while it doesn't have the best color accuracy or the widest color gamut, printed photos still look very detailed.

   Although it isn't a supertank printer, it still yields a large number of prints, which means you won't have to regularly replace the cartridges. The input tray holds 150 sheets of paper, which is likely enough for most households with a few people sharing the printer. If you print moreand want to minimize the number of times you need to refill the tray, you can get the slightly more costly Brother MFC-L4535DW variant, which has an additional 250-sheet tray, bringing the total capacity to 400 sheets.    If you want to spend as little as possible and want something to get the job done, consider the Canon PIXMA MG3620. This all-in-one inkjet model has all the basics. It has a flatbed scanner, produces good-quality documents and photos, and connects via USB or Wi-Fi. It prints slowly at nine black or three color pages per minute, but on the upside, it supports automatic duplex printing. It's compatible with Canon's mobile app, so you can easily print from your smartphone.

   The biggest downside with a cheap model like this is its page yield. Its black and tri-color cartridges are only good for about 200 black and color prints, so you need to replace them often. Maintenance cost isn't the issue since the cartridges are cheap, but replacing them is inconvenient. Even worse, you must replace the entire color cartridge if one color runs out, which is wasteful. It's still a good option if you only print once in a blue moon for a specific project, but if you print more frequently, you're better off getting a model with better page yield, like the Brother MFC-J1205W or the mid-range Brother MFC-J4335DW.

You can connect to the printer via Wi-Fi or USB, and there's support for Apple AirPrint and Mopria Print Service, making it easy to print from your smartphone or tablet.
