Recipe Highlights

  • Deliciously creamy and smooth: The homemade Frappuccino base syrup gives you that iconic texture, just like the real deal.

Ingredient Notes

  • Homemade Frappuccino base syrup: This is the key to achieving that signature Starbucks texture. Make a batch ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for future Frappuccino adventures.
  • Matcha: Unsweetened matcha gives you control over the sweetness, but feel free to use pre-sweetened if you prefer. Just remember, the taste and color might be slightly different.
  • Milk: Whole milk is traditional, but any milk you like will work! Oat milk, almond milk – the possibilities are endless.
  • Vanilla syrup: Homemade or store-bought – it’s your call. Just make sure it’s good quality for the best flavor.
  • Heavy cream: For that light and fluffy whipped cream.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Whip up your whipped cream: Heavy cream + vanilla syrup + milk frother = instant deliciousness. Set it aside while you blend.
  2. Blend it like you mean it: Combine milk, vanilla syrup, matcha, ice, and Frappuccino base syrup. Blend until smooth and creamy, using a tamper if needed.
  3. Pour and top: Fill your glass with the icy matcha goodness and top it with your fluffy whipped cream.

Expert Tips

  • Liquid first, ice last: This ensures everything blends evenly for that perfect texture.
  • Whipped cream: The longer you whisk, the thicker it gets! Aim for soft peaks for that perfect dollop.
  • Quality matcha matters: A brighter green color means higher quality. Invest in good matcha (at least $20) for the best flavor and experience.

Questions You May Have

1. What’s in a Starbucks Matcha Crème Frappuccino?

Ice, milk, crème Frappuccino syrup, classic syrup, matcha blend, and whipped cream.

2. Is this drink caffeinated?

Matcha is naturally caffeinated, so this drink will give you a little boost.

3. What is the Starbucks matcha secret?

They use a pre-sweetened matcha blend. I couldn’t find one I loved, so I used unsweetened and added my own sweetener for a more customizable experience.
